In the highest civilization, the book is still the highest delight. He who has once known its satisfactions is provided with a resource against calamity.

My Reflection on Efficient and Ethical Information-Seeking Behavior

Book Nook, Copyright Laws, Do they apply to me? , How to Cite Sources, My Media Web Site

Bilingual Lessons, Instructional Research Handbook

As a media specialist it is my goal to create a media center that promotes information research through multiple mediums. Technology today is a valuable tool for students to access information, but it must be used wisely. I created several artifacts that demonstrate the ethical use of information.   How to Cite Sources in a Research Paper, Copyright Laws, Do they apply to me, and the Instructional Research Handbook are artifacts that encourage students to use information in an ethical way while still using the information in an academic format to achieve success.   Some students will have difficulty accessing information due to language barriers.   I have created an artifact called Bilingual Lessons that allows teachers to create lessons to benefit students who primarily speak another language.   It also allows students to access a web site that translates materials into their first language to facilitate the learning process.  Finally, I will include many of the artifacts in this portfolio onto a media web page so students and parents can access media information.   This can be seen in the artifact, My Media Web Site. Book Nook is a web page that students and parents could access from home and at school to choose books for projects or pleasure.   Students would then be able to come to the media and check out the book or request it from the local library through our media.   I would coordinate the access of materials with the local county library by encouraging students to acquire library cards for interlibrary loans and reserves. In my media I will use strategies like these to create a technology-rich media that is flexible and open to student and staff so students will become empowered to overcome any of the challenges presented in an ever-changing world.
