About Authors &
Illustrators –
A site by the CBC (Children’s Book
Council), which links to authors and illustrators pages. They also have a wonderful monthly feature
called “Meet the Author/Illustrator”. If
you miss a month you can look in the archives. Great for

Really easy site to navigate, with lots of author/illustrator sites to visit. Also great links to general sites about authors of children’s books. Check out the book links, which take you to series books like Magic Tree House, Clifford, and Animorphs. Book awards also have a link if you are curious about award winning books. Great for grades k – 12

Over 150 sites which link to author and illustrator’s web pages. Books range from picture books to novels. They are condensed into one list, which is alphabetical. Terrific for research on authors. Great for grades 2 – 8.

This site combines book awards, author and illustrator links and adds a place for discussion about books and conferences. Other sources on this site include Stories on the Web, and Resource for Teachers, Students, Storytellers and Writers/Illustrators. Great for grades 2 – 8.

A neat resource for motivating kids k – 8 to read. Kids create a book list and earn points when they complete a quiz about the book. The only problem is you are limited to their book list.

Although the flashing menu is really annoying, it is a good site for planning activities and looking up books and authors that are published by Time Warner. Nice features are the categories by age and the monthly features and newsletters. Great for grades k – 8.

A great site for students to search for a book by title or author or just browse the most recently reviewed book. Each book has a rating by reviewers and you can read what each person thought of the book. The best part is that this site is set up for reviews by students, not adults or professionals. (Lots of advertising, so watch yourself.) Great for grades 2 – 8.

Great source for reviews of children’s books. It has a monthly featured topic and newsletter. The site is easy to move around and you can find a lot of other interesting information about children’s books. Great for grades 1 – 8.

Browse by author, title or alphabetical listings, and then you can find out more about you book and also post your comments about the book. Lots of fun to see what other people say. (I did have some problems pulling up other people’s comments about the book.) Great for grades 2 – 8.

Posts reviews of many children’s books, which are reviewed by children. It only allows you to see one review, but it does allow you to submit your own review. The books are listed by title but are not in an alphabetical format, so you have to scan the whole list. Great for grades 2 – 8.

A really kid friendly site to look up book reviews by kids all around the world. You can look for books by title, subject, or place in the world where the review came from. There is also a section where kids can submit their own reviews. Great site!! Great for grades 2 – 8.
