Citing Internet Sources
Are you doing research on the Internet and need to cite your sources for your project?
YouÕve
come to the right source. Below you
will find a like to a site that will help you get an A in your bibliography
format. There are also some
examples you can follow included.
Go to the Internet site called The Write
Source. You can choose between two
types of formats:
Check with your teacher for which type they
prefer. APA comes from the American
Psychological Association. It is
often used in scientific research papers.
The MLA style comes from the Modern Language Association. It is most frequently used in literature
papers and in papers by middle and high school students.
At this site you will
find a very easy site to navigate and the graphics are really eye-catching.
. It offers an option to find
examples of both APA and MLA style citations, so check with your teacher. Many sites do not offer this
option. This is one reason I like
this site for students who may have to use one type for one class and the other
with another teacher. As you page
down you will first see a general description on each part of the bibliography
format, like author, title, date posted and accessed, and identifying
numbers. Below these basic
descriptions you can find just about any example of an online citation you
might need in middle or high school, although I think college students would
like this site as well because it is so easy to navigate. Some of the more common examples are
articles on the web, government sites, and articles in reference databases
(encyclopedias and dictionaries). I
also like this source because it has more than just information on citing
Internet sources. It is also a great source for multimedia presentations and
writing your report. I always like
a site that is a good source for many aspects of a studentÕs project. Just like one-stop-shopping.
