Internet Literacy Issues |

Although few would argue that internet literacy is inappropriate for students, there are several issues which concern many parents, teachers and administrators regarding Internet use in the schools. Inappropriate content found on the Internet. Blocks and filters used in school, but rarely in homes. Filters and blocks provide a false sense of security and safety, and students may not learn how to judiciously use the Internet. Plagarism will increase. It is easy for students to cut and paste information and claim it as their own using technology. Teachers should know everything about a topic before they teach their students. Students shouldn't have access until teachers feel confident using it. Students have grown up with technology, allow them to become technology mentors of teachers, learning together is a great strategy.
