Intellectual Freedom - The media center at Highland Elementary School supports the American Library Association's definition of Intellectual Freedom, which is "the right of every individual to both seek and receive information from all points of view without restriction. It provides for free access to all expression of ideas through which any and all sides of a question, cause or movement may be explored."

Evaluation and Selection Policies - All instructional and library materials are purchased to support curriculum areas and are evaluated and selected in accordance with the Montgomery County Public Schools Evaluation and Selection Policy.
