Gay Jewell Love Spring 2006
Developed as a reference mainly by McDaniel College elementary education minors during their coursework at McDaniel College, McDaniel College Education Department faculty and staff and Carroll County Professional Development School mentor teachers, site coordinators and administrators.
EDUCATION PARTNERS
McDaniel College and
Carroll County Public Schools formed a partnership agreement in 1999 naming a
number of their schools as professional development schools. A Professional Development School (PDS) is a
collaboratively planned and implemented partnership for the academic and
clinical preparation of interns and the continuous professional development of
both school system and institution of higher education faculty.
CCPS (Carroll County Public Schools)-
This website includes a directory of CCPS schools, academic calendar, instructional services, administrative services, student handbook, etc.. Students who graduate from McDaniel College with an education minor will receive a Maryland teaching certificate. This website includes a multitude of information for educators. STATE AND NATIONAL STANDARDS 
INTASC (Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium Principles) These principles include the knowledge, dispositions and performances that are essential for all beginning teachers. McDaniel College requires that all education minors create an exit portfolio to provide evidence that they have met the ten INTASC principles. MSDE PDS Standards- (Maryland Professional Development Schools) The Maryland State Department of Education has developed standards to support professional development schools and to provide an instrument for accountability. Every summer McDaniel College hosts strategic planning sessions for each PDS and education staff to meet and reevaluate the progress of the PDS relationship.
