Using Microsoft Excel to Graph Student Data

After completing this activity, you will be able to create a simple spreadsheet and chart of your choice showing student progress.

1. Use a template to save time for this session. Right click on the template link, select "Save Target As", and browse to select a location in which to save the document. Use the worksheet for the following activities.

2. Change the look of the text in the worksheet by using the formatting options described within the Excel 2000 Tutorial.

3. Apply formulas to the worksheet. Read about formulas and functions using the Excel 2000 Tutorial website, (http://www.fgcu.edu/support/office2000/excel/functions.html) then apply the formula to find the student average AND class average for each of the quizzes listed in the worksheet.

4. Read about using the chart wizard to prepare simple charts in Excel. Use the Excel 2000 Tutorial. http://www.fgcu.edu/support/office2000/excel/charts.html
Create various charts with the data. Explore formatting options with the charts.

5. Submit the completed chart to the instructor by attaching it to an email.
