Social Studies In this activity, students will visit a site that teaches about cardinal directions.Then they will be able to locate physical features on a map by using cardinal directions. In this activity, students use a website to compare the physical characteristics of two different states, Colorado and Florida. They use a Venn diagram to organize the information. Then, given a scenario, they must decide where a person should settle based on their goals and interests. http://www2.mcdaniel.edu/slm/student/mccormickk/dropin4.htm Virtual Fieldtrip: Symbols of America Hop aboard the Virtual Express and journey across America.The railway will take you to historic sites around our great country. It will also introduce you to some of America's most famous patriotic symbols.
Science In this activity, students will read and interpret a chart about lunar phases.Then they will be able to explain to a friend how to tell if a moon is waxing or waning.They will also use a chart to find out when the moon rises and sets on a given day. In this activity, students will explore a site made by a 2nd grade classroom about the life cycle of a monarch butterfly.Students will then illustrate and label a diagram of the butterfly's life cycle.
