3) Answer the following questions:
a) On your list, who was the oldest
person to serve at the time of the war?
b) What was the most interesting fact you found about any of the
leaders you listed?
c) Compare one Union leader with one Confederate leader. How similar
are they? How different are they?
d) Read Robert E. Lee's profile. He is said to have led the Confederate
army because he "felt more loyalty to his state than to the Union". How
do you feel about this? Do you agree with his decision? If a civil war
broke out today, which would you support more, Maryland, or the faction
of the U.S. that would be fighting Maryland? Explain your answer in two
to three paragraphs.
4) From your list, pick one Union leader and one Confederate
leader. These will be the figures you will research for your upcoming
research assignments.
