Genscope is a genetics project that allows students to examine and manipulate the DNA of dragons. Students create a set of parents. The students then open up the chromosomes and document the alleles. From her the students predict the offspring of the parents using Punnett Squares.

 

Students then have offspring by watching the cells go through meiosis and fertilization.

 

 

The students then document the DNA and characteristics of the offspring to see if their predictions were correct. The following picture shows the offspring of the parent.

This is a very effective and enriching program for students to apply their knowledge of genetics and DNA.
