Here are the top rated engineering schools by US News, (which only does the rating for the graduate program.  But the percentages given below are for the undergrad courses.)  What we see here is that schools with the strongest engineering programs have relatively good use of Fridays.  The only schools that drop much below 40 percent are either Ivy League or big city or both, previous observations.  So,  while some of our top schools in the Ivy League and in big cities may be setting a bad example,  other of our top schools, flagship and engineering are resisting the four day temptation.  It doesn't take much imagination to see why engineering schools would take what they teach more seriously.  Flagship schools may have strong engineering programs or they may just see the value of five day work week.
