Reading Guidance Web

This Web Reading Guide is designed to lead media specialists to additional books
that might be of interest to students who've read and enjoyed The Earth, My Butt, and
Other Big Round Things
by Carolyn Mackler. Mackler's book is in the center of the page.
Surrounding it are different aspects of the book or related subjects through which
connections to other books can be made.

How to use this page: Depending on what aspects of the book your student liked,
you should move your mouse to that particular section. When the mouse is over
that string of text, it will change to a list of additional books.

A note about the Javascripts on this page: The page runs using a basic "image swap" javasript.
Essentially, for each of the eight images that change, I have put a piece of javascript into the
header and body of this page. The script describes the two images for each and what they
should do and what triggers the action (in this case, a mouse over). This is useful because, prior
to learning this javascript, I would have probably created hot-linked buttons linking to eight
sparse web pages for the eight categories. This saves me from having to create eight additional
pages, which also saves space on the server and reduces downloading times for the user.
