Instruction Elective: Lesson Plans

Daily Lesson Plan: New York Times  Site:  These plans are very detailed with a consistent format.  They seem to center around popular culture with the exception of a the last couple in this section (as of 4/15/02) …. The plans include many resources for implementation including interdisciplinary connections, and standards statements. They are archived under the keyword: Fine Arts

Ask Eric: These plans are written for varied grade levels.  There is a consistent and robust format employed with excellent reference sections for each lesson.  They include “Printer friendly “ versions of each plan. As of 4/15/02 there are 42 music plans I listed at this time.  http://lessonplancentral.com/lessons/Art/Music/

CyberSleuthKids   Lesson are located under “Education > Lesson > Music – This is a meta list of lesson plans that include some lessons from listing already presented here.  Due to the nature of this list, each link will have its own curricular bend and format.  All levels and areas are covered, but not searchable from this page. Some independent links (not major sites) are dead links.

Lets Make Music with Computers  These materials are listed for secondary education. They are an outgrowth of a special project from the European Union. Lesson Plans from MENC’s Strategies for Teaching Series: These lessons are written by MENC members and offer ideas on creating plans for your classes. They were hosted by a commercial venture, “Notation Station” which is no longer on the Web.  The lessons are no longer available and I could not find reference to this title on the MENC site or via any Web search engines.  It would be worthy of an occasional search.  (MENC is: the Music Educators’s National Conference)

Also please note that GVOX, the owner of the notation station site has suspended all web activities as of Dec 31, 2001   http://www.notationstation.net

ArtsEdNet    Sponsored by the Getty Center for Education in the Arts' special approach to arts education.  ArtsEdNet  provides information regarding the latest trends in art education. “Innovative” lesson plans and other curriculum resources are provided.  The site does include interactive capabilities for sharing and exchange of ideas online.   Seminars and other professional development programs are also profiled here.  http://www.getty.edu/artsednet/resources/index.html
