Translation Elective

There are many ways that teachers can use translation within their own classrooms.  Here are five suggestions:

  1. Allow students to write short paragraphs and have them translate their paragraphs into a foreign language.  This activity will allow student to practice writing skills and technological skills.  It will also allow them to have exposure to another language. 
  2. Have students find newspaper articles online from another country.  The students can use the translation website to translate portions of the foreign article into English.  This will give students a glimpse of the news abroad. 
  3. Choose a country that speaks another language.  Have students study the culture, tradition, and language of this country.  Students can also type short paragraphs about what they have learned about the country then translate the paragraph into the country that it describes.  
  4. Have students write to an e-pal from another country.  Students can write letters in their own language and translate the letters into the language of their e-pal.  Students could also receive letters in a foreign language and translate them into English. 
  5. A great thing about these translation programs is that students can have their writing translated into many different languages.  Have the students translate several sentences into 3 different languages.  After that they can look for similarities and differences in the 

    structure and composition of the different languages.

French

  1. Permettre aux étudiants d'écrire des paragraphes courts et les faire traduire leurs paragraphes dans une langue étrangère. Cette activité permettra à l'étudiant à la pratique en écrivant des adresses et des adresses technologiques. Il leur permettra aussi d'avoir l'exposition à une autre langue.

 

Russian

1.        Позволить студентам писать короткие параграфы и сделать так, чтобы они перевели их параграфы на иностранный язык. Эта деятельность позволит студенту практике, пишущий навыки и технологические навыки. Это также позволит им иметь подвергание другому языку.

 

Japanese 学生を短いパラグラフを書き、外国語にパラグラフを翻訳してもらうことを許可しなさい。  この活動は学生が執筆技術および科学技術の技術を練習することを可能にする。  それはまたそれらが別の言語への露出があるようにする。
