What are the Implications of the Maryland State
Assessment (MSA) Data for Your School?
Elementary and Middle Schools
Using what you learned about the student achievement on the MSA your school, compare that data with student achievement data from the other tested grades. How does that data compare to other elementary schools in the district? How does that data compare to the statewide student achievement in that grade?
· Create a data display in a graph format.
· Report your comparisons in three paragraphs. In the concluding paragraph, identify areas for discussion in grade level team meetings and with the school improvement team.
High Schools
Using what you learned about the student achievement on one of the High School Assessments,
· Create a data display in graph format that portrays your school’s performance to other schools in the district and schools similar to yours across the state.
· In a paragraph discuss how your school’s performance compares to other schools in the district and in schools similar to yours across the state.
· In the second paragraph, describe what steps you would you take to align your curriculum and teaching strategies to address the data and the conclusions you made about the impact of ethnicity, gender and student who receive special services.
· In the final paragraph, identify areas for discussion with your colleagues and with the school improvement team.
