High School Media Center Friendly Use Policy

The Media Center is available for all teachers to use for classes working on research and for book check out. We will be open to students and teachers before school for 45 minutes, during lunch and for 90 minutes after school. Our media assistants and/or media specialist will be available during these hours.

Teachers will sign for class research use on a first come first serve basis.

We will ask that no teacher sign up for more than 3 days in a row, as our high school population is approximately 2,000 students. We need to provide access to all.

We can accommodate two classes at a time and, when necessary, three.

Teachers are asked to plan with the media specialist before signing up for research time. We want to be sure to include our information literacy skills in every lesson.

We will split our computers in half if we have two classes in for research. We can't reserve all computers for one class, it's just not fair. If no other class signs up, then all the computers are available.

All of the above are flexible and teachers are asked to discuss any suggestions and concerns with the media specialist.

We welcome groups of 5 or fewer students at any time with passes from their teachers for small group study or book check out.

PLEASE send students who have finished their assignments to check out books. High school students, especially, need encouragement to read fiction.
