Standard 2

Standard 4

Standard #4:  Program Administration

Objective:  Comprehensive & Collaborative Strategic Planning & Assessment

Designed for Montgomery County Public Schools, the Falcon Ridge High School Media Center web site and the curriculum chart align Information Literacy Standards (ILS) with the school's goals, objectives and content standards. Three pages within the web site address these standards and goals. Promoting appreciation of literature, the web site includes suggested readings for students (ILS 2). Also included on the web site is a page of links to copyright information, including the MCPS copyright site (ILS 3). Furthermore, the Falcon Ridge mission and vision statements support the MCPS mission to ensure success for every student. Secondly, the MCPS curriculum chart presents suggested Media Center lessons that incorporate sections of all three Information Literacy Standards into English 10, Social Studies and ESOL curricula. English 10 students choose reading as a leisure activity and select fiction books related to their research topics (ILS 2). National, State and Local Government (NSL) students work in groups to produce short VHS presentations based on their research about the Vietnam War (ILS 1 & 3). Finally, ESOL students access, evaluate and use information about Ancient Civilizations of the Middle East to produce group PowerPoint presentations (ILS 1 & 3). Therefore, these artifacts meet the Target level for this objective.
