Richard Montgomery High School students, especially those in International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement classes, must use community libraries in addition to their school library. I created a web link for our school media center web page with current information about several community libraries. I called, e-mailed and/or visited each of these libraries to determine that the information available on their web sites was correct. I was particularly interested in information pertaining to high school student use. One of the goals of our media center is to be as helpful as possible to students as they seek resources and knowledge beyond their school media center. Another goal is to establish communication between ourselves and other libraries. The artifact “Richard Montgomery High School Community Library Information” therefore meets the Target level for this objective by demonstrating a strategy to ensure connections between the school community and larger library world of public, academic and special libraries, and information centers.
