Repetitive games have always been enjoyable to me so it is with enthusiasm that I started the assignment to review sites which contain games. I visited several sites, played games, and learned a few new games.
The first site I visited was www.vogclub.com. It was very difficult to play games at this site. The sign on procedure was very involved. Once signed on the password and screen name required to play was sent to your email address. The game site had to be closed while a password was retrieved at the email carrier. The games were card games and games of chance involving money so I quickly exited this site.
An online game my family and I enjoy and visit on a regular basis is www.snood.com. This game can be tried on a trial basis before paying. The game has several difficulty levels from basic, called child, to challenging, called evil. The play of the game is to line up three similar shapes which will clear the game board of those particular shapes. The object of the game is to clear the game board of all shapes using as few shapes as possible. My high score is 25,248 in evil. There is a record of high scores kept. My family are my opponents in this game and they continue to challenge my high score.
The site where I got stalled and spend much time was games.yahoo.com. This site has as many games as anyone could possible enjoy. Several games that I enjoyed were Mahjong Solitaire, Klondike Solitaire, and diamond mines. These games were games that were played against the computer with your score constantly being rated against other previous players. I started out in JT’s Blocks with a score of 4,000 and was immediately ranked at 69,000 place. After playing several more games I did get better but never got out of that ridiculously low ranking. I also struggled playing against other competitors in card games. I felt somewhat uncomfortable not being exactly sure of others style of play. The one game I played was Hearts with a group. One particular player was consistently winning and the game quickly fell apart. Of all the sites visited this site had the most interest for me.
Two other sites that I tried which had fewer games and games that were not as much of interest to me was www.uproar.com and play.games.com. Both had some fun games but not the variety games.yahoo.com had.
There were many sites and games I felt could be implemented into the classroom and used for educations purposes. Previewing these games sites was also very entertaining but I felt I spent entirely too much time playing when I should be working on other projects for this course!
