Virtual Fieldtrips

This web brochure contains four virtual fieldtrips for students to learn about the history of America.  The following websites provide students with insight during a time period of turmoil in America.  Students will learn about the life of a slave and the influential role that Abraham Lincoln played into their freedom.

 

 

 

 

 

The Living Conditions of Slavery

 

Slave

 

Students can gain a little insight by reading about the conditions and life of slave and the fears that they lived with on a daily bases.  Students are able to see a 360˚ view of a typical room that many slaves may have been housed in during this time period.  This website is a great resource for further use, while providing tools for teachers that chose to follow the PBS film, Abraham and Mary Lincoln: A House Divided.

The Underground Railroad

 

 

 

       The Underground Railroad was a very important idea of freedom to a slave.  Students are able to fall into the footsteps of a slave as they travel the underground railroad while follow the advise of Harriet Tubman herself.  This tour is interactive with students making choices of what they should do as they follow their path to freedom.

 

                

 

 

 

 

 

 

Abraham Lincoln

 

 

Abraham Lincoln is one of the most influential presidents of the United States.  During his term in office our county went through many historical and life changing events.  Students are able to navigate through the life of Abraham Lincoln by learning about his life before, during and after his time in office through words and pictures. 

 

                  

 

 

 

 

 

The Battle of Gettysburg

       The Battle of Gettysburg is a great place for students to follow a part of history while Abraham Lincoln was in office.  Students are able to view pictures as they read the story of the war.  The information on this site can be expanded further by students clicking on links of important soldiers of the war to learn more about influential people and even reading journal entries.
