Web Link Bibliography

 

This web link bibliography is designed to provide myself, colleagues, and students an array of educational resources.  Among these resources includes tools, tips, and ideas to promote art knowledge and education.  There are four different website categories in this bibliography: general art teaching, art history, art skills, and art supplies.

 

General Art Teaching Websites

 

The Art Teacher’s Guide—This page offers the latest information in the art education curriculum.  The website also provides stories from art teachers, new updates, visuals, even video clips on artistic ideas and creations.  It is an excellent resource for art teachers at all grade levels.  Date visited—6/8/09.

NGA Classroom: For Teachers and Students—This page is designed for both teachers and students.  NGA Classroom provides resources on project topics and famous artists.  One is able to search a particular topic, for instance, drawing or decorative arts, and then select an artist to view material and specific examples.  This is an especially helpful website for art teachers at the secondary level because it provides them advanced lesson content and visuals to include in presentations.  Date visited—6/8/09.

Art Activities and Lesson Plans—This page includes sample lesson plans and resources for art teachers at all levels, both elementary and secondary.  Several of these resources have been used and shared from art teachers, which is helpful in that there is a collaborative effort.   The lesson plans are very interesting and insightful.  Date visited—6/8/09.

Artcyclopedia—This website lists several artists and movements.  Among the topics are photograph examples, which are excellent sources for presentations.  Teachers at all levels, especially the secondary level when art history is a prevalent topic, will find this website useful.  Date visited—6/10/09.

Art History Resources—This is an additional art history website that will assist teachers at the secondary level.  It covers just about all of the historical information an art teacher will need to know.  Some of the main topics include artists, art movements, biographies, and artwork.  Teachers are able to select a topic and navigate through the extensive listing of matches.  This website is arguably the most extensive and useful tool from this entire bibliography.  Date visited—6/8/09.

Famous Artworks Exhibition—This page offers information on one of the most famous art exhibitions in Paris.  It features some of the most classic and extraordinary artwork from the Gothic, Baroque, and 20th Century ages.  This information is useful for teaching the history and origins of several notable artworks, which will certainly assist art history instruction most often taught at the secondary level.  Date visited—6/8/09.

Drawing Lessons—This website provides activities and resources designed to help students draw.  There is a listing of practice assignments such as contour and still life drawing that students need to learn in order to help them develop basic drawing skills.  This website is useful for beginner or entry level art courses, particularly at the elementary or middle school levels.  Date visited—6/8/09.
