Electives (instruction) Teacher Sites

  1. Mrs. Kazmel-Boudreau’s Website. Mrs. Kazmel-Boudreau’s website was created for her sixth grade science class. Here, one of her students may access homework policies, students’ writing, and links to related sites. The usefulness of this site is limited. Accessed April 3, 2004. http://hrsbstaff.ednet.ns.ca/lboudrea/
  2. Recommendations:

*Update, update, update! Links to students’ work are active, but no works have been scanned into the site.

*Active links only link to one other site; there are not many choices for students.

*Homework link explains the homework polity, not current assignments. It would be helpful if students could find weekly or nightly assignments.

    Commendations:

*The idea of having students’ writing assignments is great. This way, students have ownership.

*An art gallery of photos is a great way to get the kids out to the community and "published." (Even though there aren’t any student photos in her art gallery.)

*A calendar link is an excellent idea. Students will be able to see what is up and coming, and what they may miss during a family vacation.

  3. Mrs. Melissa Seifman. Miami Valley Career Technology Center links to all of its teacher's websites. Mrs. Seifman's Computer Technology Course site includes information concerning her syllabus, schedule, assignment, policies, and other class-related information. The usefulness of this site is incredible. Accessed April 3, 2004. http://www.mvctc.com/teachers/seifman/default.htm

Recommendations: (A great site! I had trouble thinking of how to improve it.)

*Update more regularly. Lesson plans are updated -- wonderful! -- but the assignment calendar only lists school-wide events.

*Possibly more visuals. Images, colors, and easy links would make this site more student-friendly.

*Maybe rearrange links so that they do not remain on the left of the screen all the time (similar to Bb). Maybe using buttons would help with this.

Commendations:

*Wow, wow, wow! A great site that lists SO MUCH information! This site provides extensive information on the syllabus, senior project, and policies and procedures. Nothing is missing!

*Impressively, Mrs. Seifman keeps her lesson plans updated weekly -- a daunting task.

*It is a minor point, but her "contact me" link lists her schedule, so a student will always know where she is.
