Weather
Forecasters … Here We Go!
We’ve
just finished our unit on meteorology.
Now, we should all be first-rate weather forecasters! Our problem solving activity for today is to
look through the websites I’ve provided and decide which is the best reference
for us to use to find the best weather forecast.

It’s time to make a decision! Jot the answers to these questions down on a
piece of paper, but be sure they are detailed, because you will use the answers
later. Which website did you like
best? They all seem a bit technical,
don’t they? But, I am sure that the
information you’ve learned will guide you to make a great decision. Why did you like the page you chose? What are that website’s best features? Was there a website that you liked the least
or that was the most difficult to use?
Which site has better maps or graphics? Why? Listing the pros and cons of each site might help!
Now that you know what you like and don’t like
about the websites, you and your partner need to write a persuasive speech for the
class. Each group will present their
speech and try to convince us that the website they like best IS the best!
Your speech must be AT LEAST (which means it CAN be longer) 3 minutes long and tells us the good AND the bad things about the site you like best. Make your speeches good, because the site that wins with the most “good” votes will be our official classroom weather reference website!
