Teacher-Made WebPages
I’ve worked at a
local school as a substitute teacher and I know that the teachers there are
required to make their own web pages, so I thought that I would check out their
work and see how well the technology workshops have benefited.
This website looks
kid-friendly and provides links to information that’s useful for parents. Information listed includes schedules,
classroom rules, class birthday party policies, homework, and “All About Miss
Deshong.” Her website eve has a
webquest that students can complete if they have some extra time on-line. This first-grade teacher has done a nice job
keeping her website well-rounded and informative.
Commendations:
*The graphics are
kid friendly. There aren’t too many,
but there are enough to make the page pleasant to see.
* The website is
easy to navigate.
* The information
on the website is useful, helpful and interesting.
Recommendations:
*To personalize the
webpage more, Miss Deshong could post some pictures of herself and her class.
* Instead of just
giving parents information on homework policies, Miss Deshong could post some
websites or information that would be useful for homework help.
* There could also
be some extra information about what is expected of the students on a daily
basis, other than her discipline and homework policies. For example … what are some of her classroom
management techniques, other than the green cards?

I think that most
of the webpages at that school are formatted the same, so I complete a search
and found this website:
Mrs. Bunch’s
3rd grade Website
Mrs. Bunch’s
website is full of information about student assignments, important news,
classroom policies, and standards for students within each subject. The website is colorful, easy to navigate
and kid friendly.
Commendations:
*Mrs. Bunch has
provided a lot of useful links for both parents and students. There are curriculum standards and classroom
rules so that parents know exactly what is expected of their child.
*There are links
to special assignments/projects the class is working on that students and parents
can view to clear up any problems.
* There are links
to good book recommendations so the children know what types of things they
should be and can be reading.
Recommendations:
*Mrs. Bunch needs
to keep this website updated. I can see
that the information was pertinent at one time, but now it is outdated. If the site were kept up, I think it would
be a great resource for her students and their parents.
*The website is a
bit bland. It could use more graphics
and pizzazz!
*Again, there
could be pictures so that the website is more personalized.
