1.  A Creative Encounter of the Numerical Kind – This WebQuest is directed toward middle-school students.  The activity is for students to create a base-4 number system for aliens from the planet Zonetia.  In completing the quest, students learn about place value and regrouping.

2.  Discovering Number Systems of Ancient Civilizations – Students research the number systems of the ancient Babylonian, Egyptian, Mayan, and Incan civilizations.  Then, they compare and contrast the civilizations and use their research to determine how the systems helped the progress of society.  This activity is appropriate for high school students.

3.  Roller Coaster Statistics – Middle school students are required to research eight roller coasters and predict which would give the greatest thrill based on height, length, and maximum speed.

4.  Slam Dunk Math – This activity is for students in middle school.  The students act as basketball scouts and must calculate statistics for different players, ultimately determining which players to “recruit.”

5.  The Stock Market – In this activity, students select 5 stocks and track them.  They must determine the percent return/loss, graph their profits for each stock, and present their findings to the class.  This WebQuest is appropriate for middle school students.
