Elective Assignment: Worksheets for Instruction

From searching the Internet for worksheets that would fulfill my teaching field, high school Biology and Anatomy, I discovered that websites containing secondary education material are not as common as those for primary education. The following are websites that I did find on secondary education Science and have decided to list for teachers, like myself, to access.

All Sciences:

Worksheet Generator – This is the website that does everything! From creating worksheets, puzzles and clipart to creating and storing your very own lesson plans and quizzes. http://school.Discovery.com/teachingtools/teachingtools.html

Lesson Plans – Teachers can find lesson plans for different science fields for the high school grade levels. http://school.discovery.com/lessonplans/9-12.html

Teach-nology – How better to get students to learn than by engaging in fun activities? The beauty of it all is that they are learning the information, but they do not know it. This is a great resource for science teachers of all kind and level. http://www.teach-nology.com/worksheets/science

Classroom Clipart – Pictures can be useful in many ways, whether it is giving them to students to study from or hanging them around the room to serve as visual aids in learning while creating a warm atmosphere. Teachers can find pictures here from several science avenues.

Human Anatomy:

Body Quest – This is an interactive Anatomy guide. Students can take a tour through the various systems that make up the human body. Major features of this site are the pictures and movie clips to further knowledge and the quiz to test acquired knowledge. http://Library.Thinkquest.org/10348/?tqskip1=1

Enchanted Learning - This page contains everything a student might need to study Anatomy. With worksheets on every body system from facts to study diagrams to glossaries, no child will be left behind; no pun intended. http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subjects/anatomy/titlepage.shtml

EdHelper – Although most of this website is geared towards younger students, there are a few worksheets and diagrams that can be used by secondary education teachers as a supplementary source of facts. http://www.edhelper.com/circulatory.htm

Skeletal System – Interactive learning is becoming widely used as time goes on. The University of Texas has an interactive learning site on the skeletal system containing comparative anatomy of the human skeletal system and that of several other mammals. Also found here are instructional resources (diagrams for both teachers and students) and a glossary of anatomical terms for studying purposes. http://wnt.utexas.edu/~eskeletons/

Neuroscience for Kids – This website was created by Professor Chudler, a professor of research in Neuroscience at the University of Washington, Seattle. Here students can learn facts about the nervous system and engage in games on memory and brain based learning. Teachers can print out worksheets and lessons. http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/neurok.html

Teacher Support:

Teacher View – This is a website that not only contains the helpful worksheets and game creators, it also allows teachers to find and share lesson plans and provides a chat room for teachers to lend support or communicate with others. http://www.teacherview.com
