Children with Visual
Impairments
- Allow more time to work
- Check on student periodically
- Invest in a Braille keyboard
- Pair a student who has a visual impairment with
a student who does not.
- Research Braille screens, which are available
and turn printed text on the computer screen into Braille
- Set the computer setting to large print and
large icons
- Shorten computer assignments
- Use appropriate colors for the impairment
- Use different lighting levels on the computer
screens
- Use programs which read the material, such as
Kurzweil and Intellitools
Children with low reading

resource room, if needed
- Divide lengthy assignments into smaller, more
manageable assignments
