1 – We Didn’t Start the Fire Activity

In this activity students are asked to rewrite the lyrics to Billy Joel’s We Didn’t Start the Fire.  IT give the students two sites to view videos. The first is to the original music video and the second is to a video created by a teacher to show images with every event he talks about.

2 – Prohibition

This site asks the students to answer questions about prohibition.  The levels of questions build from basic knowledge to evaluation and synthesis.

3 – Comparing WWII Countries

Here, the students will fill in multiple comparison charts comparing Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany, and Communist USSR.  The students are given some websites to use, but are offered the chance to find their own.

4 – Vietnam Essay 

This site gives students the chance to write a formal essay. They have to choose whether or not America should have gotten involved in the Vietnam War?

5 – Facebook Profiles

This site allows students to create ‘facebook profiles’ of the kings and queens from the Age of Absolutism in Europe.  This site would be able to be adapted to any person or time period.  It gives students some popular encyclopedia sites to use, but also allows them to use their own.

Digital Photography Sites

Comparing three of the top sites for storing and printing photographs, this site lets the viewer see some of the different aspects to Wal-Mart Photo, Snapfish, and Shutterfly.  It also holds a like to my album on Shutterfly.

American Studies II Blog

This site will allow my students to blog about their term papers.  They will be asked to post about different aspects of their biography as we go throughout the semester.  As I was creating this, I realized it would make grading certain aspects easier. There will be sufficient time for students to complete this while at school.

This site is two different assignments.  The first is a review of four different news sources and which ones would be best to use in the classroom. The second activity is for student use.  It can be molded to any classroom.  It offers a blank organizer for students to follow current events.

Museum Visit

The first thing you will notice is the rubric on whether or not the museum site is useful.  The second section is the same rubric, but it is grading the United States Memorial Holocaust Museum.  The third section is an activity for students to complete while visiting the Holocaust Museum.
