Web Drop in Activities:

Drop In 1:  Students will visit a website containing information about a syphmphony orchestra.  They will learn about the types of instruments that make up a symphony and choose a group of instruments for which to complete an activity.  Assistance by an adult may be necessary in order to complete this activity.

Drop In 2:   Students will visit a website containing information about individual musical instruments.  They will choose an instrument for which to complete an activity.  Assistance by an adult may be necessary in order to complete this activity.

Drop In 3:  Students will visit a website containing information about brass instruments.  Once there, they will visit an "Instrument Storage Room" and gather information so that they can complete a list of questions pertaining to members of the brass family.

Drop In 4:   Students will learn about a current topic of debate relating to the Brass and Woodwind groups of instruments.  They will visit two websites, in order to conduct research on the topic, and then write an essay supporting their own viewpoint.

Drop In 5:  Students will  visit a website that presents a lesson on the basics of how to read music.  They will then complete a worksheet displaying their newly acquired skills.

Course Module #1 :
 Students will follow links in order to conduct research on the history of the orchestra.  Once they have finished their research, they will complete a questionairre in order to assess how well they have done.

Web Quest:

Web Quest
Students will determine what the definition of a musician should be and then search the internet for a performer that meets their qualifications.  This is a group activity in which each student adds a different dynamic to the task by conducting  independant research which is then combined with and transformed by the group effort.
