Lisa Russell's
Web Drop in Activity #5
Learning to Read Music

Have you ever wondered how to read music?  Have you ever picked up a piece of sheet music and tried to figure out what all those symbols mean?

In this activity, you will visit a website in order to learn the basics of  reading  music.  You will then display your knowledge by writing some music yourself!

Click on the link below and read the entire page carefully.  You may want to print the page for future reference.

Once you have finished reading the webpage, complete the following activity:

On a single sheet of paper:

(1) Draw a single staff.

(2) Place a treble cleff, inside the staff, in the proper place.

(3) Place a whole note, inside the staff, in the proper place for F.

(4) Place a half note, inside the staff, in the proper place for A.

(5) Place a quarter note, inside the staff, in the proper place for C.

(6) Place a eighth note, inside the staff, in the proper place for E.

Hand your papers to me at the end of the week.  Make sure you include your name and Web Drop In #5 on your paper.
