Teacher Created Web Sites

The first teacher created web site that I chose, was from the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District.   Ms. Terri Robertson created a fantastic Middle School Physical Education website that is extremely useful.   I have three commendations for this website.   First, the website is extremely organized and easy to follow.   Second, this web site is extremely thorough and gives great descriptions as to how they run their program.   The website answers a lot of questions that teachers in regard to grading styles.   The third thing that I like about this website is that it just has so much to offer.   There is a web quest you can look at, a description of how they do their fitness testing, and she provides you with an email to contact her.

I also have three recommendations for this website.   My first is that it is more of a website for teachers, maybe I would instead, add some things to make it more intended for students.   The second thing that I would recommend is that maybe adding some lesson plans on here, so that teachers who do look at this website could get some lesson plan ideas.   The third suggestion that I have is that no where on the web page do you see what grades the teachers teach.   I think to make the web page more effective is to add what grade they teach, and what school they teach.   Overall this is a very good webpage that teachers could find extremely useful.

The second teacher created web site that I chose, was also from the Palos Verdes Peninsula School District.   This website was created by Ms. DeWitt and is for her special education class.   My three compliments to this website are first, it is very organized and easy to read.  The colors do not make the website hard to read as often happens when two bright colors are put together.   The web site is very organized and includes contact information which is always very helpful.   My third compliment is that the website also includes other educational links.   I think it is always a good thing when websites provide links to other useful websites.

I again have three recommendations.   The website does not tell you what classes she teaches.   I like the design of it, but I am interested in knowing what she teaches.   My second recommendation is that under the curriculum area, it has a Social Studies and Science section, but it does not list the standards.   I think that it just makes the website look incomplete.   The final recommendation that I would do is put a part on the website telling about the teacher.   I think it would be nice to know some about her background, that way if I was interested in using her information and could get a feel for who I was talking to.
