Course Module
Goals- Students will learn how to properly bookmark, or mark their favorite websites.
Introduction- The Internet is full of great websites that provide a wealth of information. One problem, is finding websites that are directed towards Physical Education. The worst thing is when you find a great site, and then you try four days later to go back to that site but you forget the link. For this reason, when someone finds great sites, they should bookmark them so that they will always have access to them at the click of a button. The purpose of this course module is that it will allow us when we find a site we like to book mark it seeing as all too often it is to hard to remember the entire website.
Activity- There are several reasons why teachers book mark Physical Education sites. The main reasons are so they can find lesson plan ideas, different teaching styles, updates on what is going on in the field, and also ideas for coaching. It is extremely simple to put a helpful web site on the favorites and then having instant access.
Each different kind of Internet browser uses different terminology. For Internet Explorer, you click the menu called favorites on the top. That opens a drop down menu. The first time you do this, there should be several default favorites that are already available. First, look and explore the ones that are defaulted and write down the ones you wish to keep. Then choose the option to “Add a New Favorite.” Then you get to choose between whether you want to place the favorite in a folder, or have it show up by itself.
After you have saved your favorites, if you decide at a later date to organize them, you may click the drop down menu favorites, and click on organize. This allows you to create folders, place websites in folders, or delete a favorite.
Assignment- As teachers, it would be a great benefit to bookmark sites as you come across them. Some reasons you would want to bookmark a website is for lesson plan ideas, staying up to date with the current styles of teaching and ideas around education. For this assignment you are going to be required to create e folders. You will then pick the three best websites that fit those folders and save them as favorites inside of those folders. The folders will be titled lesson plans, classroom management and coaching. After you have created the three folders and placed the websites as favorites in those folders, you will create a word document detailing what you found effective while searching for your favorites, this way students in the future will be able to go into the project with a little heads up
Submission- Once you have finished this assignment, email the web addresses and the web page titles in a word document along with your summary of what you found effective while doing this project. Email this word document to the teacher.
