Web Drop-In #1

We will be beginning a new unit on our country’s government.  To help us explore this topic, we will use a fantastic website called “Ben’s Guide to U.S. Government for Kids.”  Take some time now to “get to know” this site by visiting http://bensguide.gpo.gov/.  Be sure that you enter the area for grades 3-5.

Now that you’ve had some exploring time, let’s get down to business.  Record all of your answers to the following questions on the handout from your teacher.  You will hand this paper in to your teacher at the end of the activity.  Remember to use the link to the website in the paragraph above and your QAR knowledge to answer the questions.

  1. List the 3 requirements from the constitution that a person must have to run for the office of President.  (Right there question)

  1. Who chose the Senators before the year 1913? (Right there question)

  1. How many members are there in the House of Representatives? (Right there question)

  1. List 2 differences in the process of running for the office of President and running for a State Representative.  (Think and search question)

  1. Pretend that you are running for President.  Assuming that you meet the Constitutional requirements, complete the sequencing graphic organizer showing the steps to the election process needed to become President.  (Author and me question)
