Link Bibliography-  Fun and exciting websites for third grade students.  Students will be able to view sites arranged into the categories, Search Engines, Author Sites, Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.  Many websites are helpful to teachers as well.

Course Module – This activity is designed to help teachers organize their thoughts and ideas for creating a class web page.  A tutorial link will help teachers remember what is important in a class web page.  Students will be asked to create a storyboard showing the path that people will take when they visit the site.

Web Dropin #1 – This web activity is designed for third grade students studying government.  Students will use the site http://bensguide.gpo.gov/ to answer questions about the election process.  They will compare election procedures for the different branches of government and apply these procedures to a fake presidential election.

Web Dropin #2 – Explore the skeletal system in this simple web activity for third graders.  Students will use the website http://yucky.kids.discovery.com/flash/body/pg000124.html to discover the importance of the skeletal system.  Information is also provided to show how the skeletal system works and what it is made up of.

Web Dropin #3 – Students review mathematical skills by reading a graph and calculating the mean, median, and range of the data.  Links to Miss Glosser’s website will help guide students in their work.  They will interpret the bar graph and answer the accompanying questions.  Students will also have an opportunity to create their own surveys and compare data.

Web Dropin #4- Students evaluate the ease and usefulness of three popular search engines.  They attempt to locate answers to four specific questions and rate the search engine.  Reflection questions at the end ask students to draw conclusions about the search engines.

Web Dropin #5 – In this activity, students will compare and contrast two very important human body systems, the skeletal system and the muscular system.  A Venn Diagram is provided so that students may organize their ideas into similarities and differences of the two systems.

Internet Filtering- Find out the pros and cons of Internet filters in the school setting.  Also, I will share my personal feelings about filters and my views on the responsibilities of the classroom teacher.

Publishing Student Work Online – Publishing student work online could be a privacy violation if appropriate steps are not taken.  This site provides a sample parent permission letter to be given to parents at the beginning of a school year.  Also included are links to five student publishing sites that are appropriate for third graders as well as many other ages.

E-Mail – Email is the new age of letter writing.  Much instruction in schools is devoted to how to write proper letters.  This link provides a list of ten tips for writing proper and easy to read emails.  It is designed for third grade students, but is applicable to students in all grades.
