Cañon City High – This website is the location of the Cañon City High School Science Department. Mr. VanIwarden, a geology teacher at the school, has comprised a website to describe each of the high school science courses offered at Cañon. Among the courses described are geology, chemistry, earth science, biology and physics. Because the classes are geared toward high school students, the grade levels covered range from 9th to 12th. For each course covered on the website are links to the syllabi, lab experiments, assignments, and grading procedures.
The site is useful in terms of its links to other science-related websites and its links to the school system in general. In some instances teachers may view examples of assignments and labs, as well as helpful documents including safety procedures.
Commendations: 1. Very comprehensive in terms of science courses listed, as well as links to the school system and to other science-related websites 2. Provides some plans and actual assignments and labs, along with syllabi and
3. Gives a thorough description of teacher hosting site (i.e. credentials and experience)
Recommendations: 1. A number of the links do not function properly and should be fixed. 2.
Provide source information (i.e. textbook) for the labs and

Ms. Hos-McGrane – This web site is a collaboration between two teachers--one of whom lives in San Francisco in California, the other in Amsterdam in The Netherlands. A very broad and comprehensive collection of projects and topics researched by fifth and sixth graders, the site provides an excellent history page that describes the teachers and their work. With countless links to projects, school sites and other sources, the website is extremely informational and educational. Each project site offers comprehensive resources and information on the topics included. Detailed graphics and photographs make the site especially interesting. Date visited: 6/19/03. http://www.internet-at-work.com/hos_mcgrane/
Commendations: 1. Excellent history of site and contact information 2. Very thorough description of all projects and activities, accompanied by detailed graphics and links 3. Wide variety of topics ranging from ocean projects and puppets to caves and family timelines
Recommendations: I have no recommendations for this particular website. I found the site completely comprehensive, very detailed and extremely helpful!
