Soccer

As we get ready to start our soccer unit, I want everyone to take a look at the history of Football (soccer). This will give everyone a chance to learn a little more about the sport and to see that soccer has come a long way to where it is now. By giving you the opportunity to learn a little about the history now will give us more time in class to play different types of soccer activities.

Once you get there you will need to first click on the button that says happy hacking read it and then click on the button a funny new game and read it. Both buttons are at the top middle of the page next to a picture.

I want everyone to read over the information and then answer the following questions. When you are done this assignment please turn it in to me and ask any questions that you may have.

1. Where was the first football (soccer) club formed?

2. How did the first football association come about?

3. When were the men’s and women’s first World Cups launched?

4. In your opinion, why do you think soccer has become so popular today? (last count over 250 million play the sport)
