Academies

The academy model is a delivery system that provides for vocational preparation by grouping several occupational training programs into one large occupational umbrella. The academy is comprised of both vocational teachers and a full complement of academic teachers. This "school within a school" environment provides the opportunity for the academy team of teachers to structure their educational delivery so that teachers can build a greater rapport with students. Teachers work in teams to bring applied learning relevancy to the academic and vocational curricula. Theme topics are emphasized and all academic and vocational teachers within the academy teach their part of the topic.

There are three academies within YCST:

    • Arts and Human Services Academy
    • Construction/Engineering Academy
    • Manufacturing/Transportation Academy

Each academy is served by a team composed of: Career Program Teachers, Counselors, Co-Op Coordinators, English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Learning Support and Health & Phys Ed Teachers. These teachers operate in a site-based team oriented environment.

Articulation Agreements:

YCST offers students the ability to earn college credits while still in high school. Through articulation agreements with area colleges and technical schools, YCST students can enter certain programs with advanced standing through skills and knowledge already obtained!
