The Unsinkable Titanic

...Travel…destination…number three…The Titanic..!

“Here she is — standing tall in the bright sunlight, her great shadow threatening to make even the most confident Edwardian feel insignificant. But those gazing up at the billowing smokestacks nearly 10 stories overhead know they live in a time of immense achievement and innovation. The times demand confidence — a confidence so bold as to declare the largest man-made seagoing object un- sinkable. Her size outside equals her magnificence inside: the grand staircase, rooms wrapped in mahogany paneling, etched-patterned mirrors, elegant leather-covered chairs, shimming crystal on pure-white linens and meals fit for the King himself. You have waited months in anticipation and finally the day has come — you are about to set sail on the Titanic. “

The Holocaust Museum

…Travel…destination…number four…The Holocaust Museum…sorrow…injustice…hatred…

“The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators. “Holocaust" is a word of Greek origin meaning "sacrifice by fire." The Nazis, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were "life unworthy of life." During the era of the Holocaust, the Nazis also targeted other groups because of their perceived "racial inferiority": Roma (Gypsies), the handicapped, and some of the Slavic peoples (Poles, Russians, and others). Other groups were persecuted on political and behavioral grounds, among them Communists, Socialists, Jehovah's Witnesses, and homosexuals.”

How can a hatred grow so strong, so fast? How can one man with ideas yet to be tested, be allowed to control such a huge piece of history? How can a people, a nation, a world not weep for those who perished, for those who lost? The Holocaust Museum is a wonderful journey of finding peace and placement with an era in our world’s history that never should have taken place. I, by no means, want you to think this virtual field trip is going to be anything but filled with sadness and sorrow; but, it will also be filled with joy; joy at man’s ability to continue, man’s ability to grow and thrive out of the ashes of suffering. This museum is a testimony to man’s inability to forget man’s inhumanity to man.

By this time we have studied the institution of race laws in Hitler’s Germany, the supposed superiority of the Aryan peoples, the brainwashing and propaganda fed to generations of individuals promoting hate and destruction of the Jews. A portion of this field trip will be review and the remainder will be new information. You will be responsible for this new information! So pay attention, focus, and learn that hatred is an emotion that constantly needs to be fed, an emotion that cannot survive on its own, and emotion that is weaker than love.
