Secession and the State of the Union |

Directions: In this study, you will be analyzing maps and assessing their value to the historian. Please follow these instructions carefully.
- Answer the following questions/activities, using the pictured maps.
- Put the answers in your Civil War Journal.
- You need only write the answer in your journal – but make sure you date the journal and title the page “Secession and the State of the Union .”

Question/Activity #1:
- Make a table in your journal – you must decide the needed amount of columns and rows!
- Create a tabled list of each category of the states of the union, at the time after secession.
- Include in your table the number of each category.

- Using the chart you just created and the map above – recheck your data, making sure that both maps “jibe.”
- What state is missing and what is its status?
- On your chart, not which states seceded first and which states seceded second.
