Web Dropin Assignments

Drop In #1 - Colonial America Timeline

This activity is designed to introduce you to Colonial America. At this point "we" are not "we" yet! We are still a colony of England and Queen Elizabeth wants her men to explore and settle in a new world.

Drop In #2 - Mythconception Activity

See if some of your mythical beliefs about Colonial America need to be "busted!"

Drop In #3 - Women's Suffrage: The Struggle

The fight for women’s suffrage was a literal war of words, petitions, rallies, and hunger strikes. Who were these great women who fought so valiantly for a right they felt all citizens of this great nation should have? What did they do for their cause? How did they suffer? What was the eventual outcome of their work? All of these questions, and more, can be answered through the following activity.

Drop In #4 - Secession and the State of the Union

In this study, you will be analyzing maps and assessing their value to the historian.

Drop In #5 - Immigration Entrance: Ellis Island

We have discussed immigration to the United States during the period of the “old” immigrants and the “new” immigrants – from the English to Eastern Europeans, of all religions and ethnic groups. But how did those immigrants – especially the “new” immigrants – enter the United States ? How did the United States keep track of the multitudes of people entering her shores? What did those people do, once they entered America "The Great?"

Drop In #6 - Weapons of Mass Destruction - WWI

The Balkan Peninsula, in continental Europe, was known as the “Balkan Powder Keg” – any day some Slavic Nationalist was going to light a match – and then – BOOM! In June of 1914 Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria, with his wife Sophia, was visiting Sarajevo, Bosnia. A nineteen-year-old male, Gavrilo Princip, and six others had formed a splinter terrorist group from the Pan-Slavic movement. Their plan: kill the duke – set the Slavic people free! As the parade line moved through the city six out of the seven males failed to achieve their goal – Gavrilo did. He shot the duke, who died on the way to the hospital, and shot his wife, who died immediately. WWI was born! This exercise is designed to make you experts on new weapons of World War I.
