With the establishment of
the state of Israel
in 1948, Jewish people were able to regain their independence. Israel is considered a holy place
of Jews and Christians alike. The state
of Israel has had a turbulent
history at times fighting with groups that wish to claim parts of Israel for
their own. Hopefully at some point in
the near future peace will occur in the Middle East.
As a result of the violence
that has been occurring in Israel,
many people have chosen not to visit the historical areas. But, as a result of the Internet we will be
able to take a virtual tour of some of the important sites in Israel. So, pack your bags and get ready for some
sight seeing.
Our first stop is a map of

Next we will find out some
information on the government of Israel. Just as in the United
States we have Congress; in Israel the governing body is called
the Knesset. The Knesset is located in

Now it is time to find out about the culture of Israel. Israel has many different types of
museums including art and historical.
Theatre and music are also important activities in Israel. Celebrating their 67th season of
entertaining patrons is the Jerusalem
Symphony Orchestra. The orchestra
will be coming to the United

What to visit next? How about the sports of Israel? Basketball is a very popular sport in Israel just as in the United States. Many players in the United States decide to play basketball in Israel to gain
experience before trying to play in the NBA. Maccabi
Elite Tel Aviv Basketball Club is one of the best teams in Israel. They are the champions of the Israeli Premier
