Funny Poetry

We have been studying the different types of poetry, such as haikus, limericks, and shape poems. Now we are going to be focusing on a specific poetry genre; humor.

Click on the names of 3 or 4 poems and read them. Choose one poem and answer the following questions.

1. What is the rhyme scheme of this poem?

2. List any similes and metaphors from the poem.

3. Any types of imagery? Pick one example; what is it and what senses does it appeal to?

4. Why do you think the author wrote this? (i.e., what is the author’s purpose?)

5. Would you recommend this to a friend to read? Why or why not?

6. Do you think this poem is funny? Why or why not?
