Newsletters
I have recently subscribed to two
newsletters. One newsletter, titled
Education World Humor, found at http://www.educationworld.com/maillist.shtml,
is delivered to my in-box every week. It
contains jokes, comics, and other things that are education related to make you
smile. Yes, the jokes are cheesy, but
sometimes that’s just what you need after a long day. I also enjoy the links to articles that are
not as serious, such as weird stories from schools and stories of a substitute
teacher. I recommend this newsletter
because of its lighthearted approach to teaching and because it reminds you
that it’s a job where sometimes you just have to step back and laugh.
Another newsletter I have subscribed
is also from Education World (see above link) and is called the Education News
Headlines. This newsletter alerts its
readers to important events that are pertinent to them and their jobs. There is a special section devoted to “No
Child Left Behind,” which is on a lot of teachers’ minds. I also like the editorials, such as how much
should a teacher get involved in their students’ lives. I suggest this one as well because links are
given to stories, as well as a brief annotation which allows you to decide what
you want to read, and what you want to skip.
I strongly believe that Education
World offers the best newsletters for teachers because of the variety of
newsletters available and the suitability of the content to the teaching
profession. The information given is
current, interesting, but at the same time, does not give too much information
at once, and lets the reader decide what they want to find out about.
