Plans
These are a few of my favorite
websites to find lesson plans and ideas for 6th grade
This website is good for all ages and
subjects. Besides “normal” lesson plans
ideas, theme units are given that relate to the month and the holidays, and
tools, such as grade books and puzzle makers are available. Daily skill questions may be accessed as well
as readings, such as biographies. This is
an overall great site for teachers.

This site lets teachers search for plans in a variety of ways. The lessons are broken down into grade level, subject level, and then themes/topics. Theme units are grouped together which make it easier to find information. Since Scholastic is a book company, plans are given that relate to current books that students may be reading and most plans deal with some type of text.

This site is only concerned with
grammar. The site does not give actual
lessons, but provides worksheets that students can practice their skills
on. There is an option to receive a
daily email about a new grammar lesson, but I think this is just a
worksheet. Good site to visit if you
need a grammar worksheet, but not the best if you need to plan how you’re
actually going to teach the material.

Lesson Plan Search is an extensive
search engine that retrieves lesson plans for all types of subjects and grade
levels. One neat feature of this site is
that it has rubrics you can choose from to use.
Lesson plans are in categories making them easy to find. Good site to get ideas to teach a whole
lesson or a starting point for a lesson.

Besides providing lessons in easy to
find categories, this site offers things such as bulletin board ideas and a
place for librarians to find lesson plans.
Book reviews are provided with links to a lesson or theme unit that ties
in with them. This site has a lot of
information and you will find that you spend more time than planned here!

Once you choose your subject and grade
level, you can search for lessons by topic.
The topics are broad, so you have to read through the list carefully to
find what you’re looking for, but the lessons are unique and varied. Lessons connecting reading and writing to
other subjects, such as music and math, are also available.
