Educational Games on the Internet

Objective -     The students will examine the variety of educational games available online.

Objective -     The students will play educational games appropriate to their grade level and subject area.

Introduction –

Students love games and they adore an impromptu visit to the computer lab.  There are a wide variety of educational games available on the Internet to play or download for free.  Games are available for all grade levels and subject areas.  Some have great educational value; others may not.  It is up to the teacher or parent to determine which games are valuable for educational purposes.

Activity –

Choose one of the resources below and try playing several games that relate to your grade level and subject area.  If you have trouble finding appropriate games, do a web search using “educational games”.  Think about how you would use the games you find to teach or extend your students’ learning.

Assignment –

Choose two games that would work well with your curriculum.  Write a lesson plan for each incorporating the game as part of the lesson.  Make sure you include objectives, materials, introduction, activity, and closure.  A live link to the game should also be included in the lesson plan.
