Websites for New Teachers

Objective

The students will be able to identify websites that provide helpful hints for student teachers and/or new teachers.

Introduction

Do you remember your student teaching?  What about your first year of teaching?  Every teacher struggles to establish classroom routines, discipline policies, planning tactics, parent communication and organizational strategies.  It takes many teachers a full year to find out exactly what works for them.  Many times, teachers try a lot of approaches that do not work before figuring out what will be successful in the classroom.

Activity

Imagine you are a cooperating teacher to a student teacher or a mentor to a first year teacher.  You want to help him or her discover what works best for him or her in the classroom.  Visit the sites below to find helpful information for classroom management, routines, discipline, planning, communication and organization.
