# 1 Platonic Solids

Using Euler’s formula, students discover that there are five platonic solids that fit the rule. Euler’s formula states that the number of vertices minus the number of edges plus the number of faces is equal to two.

# 2 Discovering / Measuring Angles

Two websites listed. One will assist teachers introduce the usage of a protractor and allow students to practice basic usage. The second accompanies an activity in which students discover that the sum of the angles in a triangle equals 180 degrees.

# 3 Roller Coasters

Students are the new owners of an amusement park. They find and compare information about the heights of the tallest roller coasters in the United States.

# 4 Maryland and California’s Populations

Students compare the populations of Maryland’s ten largest cities to the populations of California’s ten largest cities and draw conclusions about the populations based on the geographic location of each city.
