Dear
Parents,
To
give you some background
about me, I attended Salisbury University
and graduated with a degree in Sociology and a minor in Anthropology. I
really enjoyed studying societies and other cultures, probably because
I spent a lot of time in different countries as a child. After
graduating from college I went to work in a bookstore; I wasn’t sure
what I wanted to do and felt at home among the books. After a while I
wanted to put my degree to use so I gave up my job and went to work
for a non-profit organization doing research. It was a very good job,
but it wasn’t for me. The summer before my son entered Kindergarten I
decided to take a year off and figure out what I really wanted to
do. One day my son’s teacher asked if I could help out in the
classroom and that’s how it all started. Soon I began volunteering in
the gym and art classes and discovered I really enjoyed working with
children. My favorite days were spent in the media center and I
realized this is what I wanted to do.
I
found a job as an assistant
librarian which taught me a lot, but I realized there was still more to
learn. I went back to school and got my
master’s degree in School Library Media at McDaniel College. Now I’m
here and I can’t wait to get started! I am looking forward to meeting
and getting to know your children!
Please
feel free to contact me
anytime. I’m always happy to make
suggestions if you’re looking for reading recommendations. The more I
get to know your child, the easier it will be for me to give
suggestions. In the meantime I’ve placed some literature links below,
please take a look!
