INTRODUCTION-I'm sure that most of you have seen webpages create by schools to give the parents and anyone else who want to look, a feel for what is going on at the school.  Having your own classroom webpage creates a great way for you and your students to connect, as well as their families. Gone will be the days of excuses that a student didn't hear an assignment, notes will always make it home to the parents, and parents will feel that they are involved in their kids’ lives.  Your site will be especially helpful for those parents who work all day and only have time to email or look at the pages late at night.  Parents want to know what is going on in their kids' lives and this will let them know that their kid is in a safe place and is beingappreciated.  You can use your pages to post homework, notes to parents, pictures, classwork, as well as fun facts about you and your students.

ACTIVITY-
First, go to this site to learn of the reasons why a classroom webpage is an invaluable resource http://www.k12.hi.us/~tulii/learning/websource.htm

Then use this page’s templates as a start to making your webpage http://www.otan.dni.us/webfarm/emailproject/web.htm

ASSIGNMENTCreate your own teacher website using the teacher resources provided.  You need to make it appropriate for the age and subject you will be teaching.  You should be creative with this, but be sure to include topics that address the parents of your students and connects with them.  Also, you should include things that will catch the interest of your students such as classroom projects and homework assignments, class grades, a chat room for questions, or even some fun activities for them to do (in your subject area).  Most of you aren't teachers yet so this will require your imagination, but it will be a valuable resource for you in the future.
