on-line course module 1                                            Classmates' Website Pages

Obj. Students will be able to give their classmates ideas for how to improve their web pages and problem solve
Obj. Students will be able to get ideas and information for their own web pages by viewing others for creative inspiration as well as the other students critiques.

INTRODUCTION- I'm sure that many of you have viewed your classmates works, either to see how far behind you were or, more importantly, to glean ideas about how you were supposed to do an assignment.  The visual representation of an explanation to your question is often the most concrete one you can get. As you view other peoples pages and think about how cool they are and how much they helped you, why not thank them.  If you see they are having trouble with a certain aspect, like getting pictures to show up online, you can give them advice.  This activity should also inspire you to do your work because you will be aware that others are looking at your stuff.

ACTIVITY-
Go to the course list of index pages http://wwwfac.wmdc.edu/slm/student/521student-index.htm,
Choose the person whose last name is alphabetically behind yours and the one that is alphabetically after.  After you have gotten your two names, go to their respective index pages and look at their work.

Also, briefly look at work from the students of past classes to help you get a sense of the type of work you are looking for.

ASSIGNMENT-
Critique the two students websites using the worksheet provided and email it to them as an attachment or cut and paste it. If you can't find  a student's email on their pages, you will find it listed on Blackboard.  Remember that since this is involving the work and effort of others, you should be constructive and helpful in your comments.  If a student doesn't have much work or any to critique, assume that they are having trouble figuring the assignment out or at least that you are anticipating problems they might have when doing  certain assignments.  In other words, you should have lots to say. Once the student has received their critiques from others, they should make the necessary changes and post them on their index page.
